Joseph Ragan
President & Chief Investment Officer
Joseph Ragan joined Paper Excellence in February 2020. He has extensive global financial leadership experience, having led all areas of finance including global reporting, treasury, investor relations, international tax, financial analysis/ planning, mergers and acquisitions, and internal/external audit in previous positions; he was most recently CFO of Resideo/Honeywell Homes (NYSE – REZI). In Mr. Ragan’s career, he has lived internationally in London, Luxembourg and Buenos Aires, Argentina and has managed very sophisticated international finance and tax structures, optimizing global finance strategies in Europe, Latin America, China, and the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of the State of New York and a Master of Science degree in Accounting from George Mason University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia, starting his finance career with Deloitte. Mr. Ragan also serves as Audit Committee Chairman for publicly traded Sports Ventures Acquisition Corporation (NASDAQ – AKIC) and also serves as Audit Committee Chairman for USA Judo a 501©3, non-profit organization.

Hoany Muljadi
Vice Chair & Operating Executive
Hoany Muljadi has spent more than fifteen years in the global pulp and paper industry. As the former CEO and Global COO of a tissue operation, Ms. Muljadi brings executive leadership and transformation experience to Paper Excellence. She is responsible for strategies which grow Paper Excellence’s business units, as well as to ensure profitability through organization restructuring, cost saving initiatives, and optimal product portfolios. Numerous verticals report to Ms. Muljadi and she currently serves on the Paper Excellence Canada Operating Committee. Her leadership drives global executive management performance through setting high aspiration targets. During her previous tenure, she was voted Best CEO numerous times by a panel of her peers. Prior to entering the pulp and paper industry, she served as a consultant with both McKinsey & Co and PriceWaterhouse Coopers. Ms. Muljadi graduated Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Indonesia and received her MBA from the University of Hawaii, where she was a Fujitsu Asia Pacific scholar.

Patrick Loulou

Patrick Loulou comes to the Paper Excellence Group from Domtar, where he was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development since 2007. Prior to joining Domtar, where he managed new business development, corporate strategy, and mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Loulou led planning and performance management for Bell Canada Enterprise/Bell Canada. Prior to that, he served as an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company. His extensive experience offers the Group countless opportunities; he is responsible for building a longer-term growth and corporate development strategy for the Group and its entities. Mr. Loulou has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Université de Montréal. He also holds a Master and a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. Mr. Loulou is a member of the Board of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and he is a trustee of the Montreal Fine Arts Museum Foundation.

Doug Sheaffer

Doug Sheaffer joined Paper Excellence in March 2019. Mr. Sheaffer has over twenty-five years of progressively responsible Human Resource and Operations experience in the pulp and paper industry as well as with other manufacturing operations. Most recently he was Vice President of Global H.R. Operations with a major supplier of capital equipment and services to the industry. During his career, Mr. Sheaffer has gained extensive experience in all areas of HR Management including recruitment, labor and employee relations, compensation and benefits and human capital development initiatives. He has a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration & Labor Relations from Shippensburg University and a master’s degree in Labor and Employee Relations from Saint Francis College, as well as a MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

Awie Kardiman
EVP & Chief Accounting Officer
Awie Kardiman serves as Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer for Paper Excellence and is in his second tenure with the company. He is a dynamic executive, with a distinguished finance career with multi-national organizations and has more than 15 years’ experience in the pulp and paper industry. Mr. Kardiman has well-rounded knowledge of financial processes, operating results, and profitability. He is a Certified Management Accountant and received a CMA Strategic Excellence Award in 2014, supplemented by his BA in Accounting from Universitas Trisakti in Indonesia.

Evan Slavitt
Global Chief Legal Officer
Evan Slavitt serves as the Global Chief Legal Officer of the Paper Excellence Group. Before joining the Group, he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for KYOCERA AVX Components Corporation, a multinational electronic component manufacturing corporation, where he oversaw all legal, environmental/safety, and insurance/risk management matters. Before joining AVX, Mr. Slavitt was a partner in several private law firms, where he concentrated his practice in complex commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Mr. Slavitt was an assistant U.S. attorney from 1983 to 1987. Additionally, Mr. Slavitt is a frequent author and lecturer on legal matters, as well as the author of one work of fiction. He is a graduate of Philips Exeter Academy, Yale University (B.A. and M.A. in economics) and the Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Mr. Slavitt also serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and others. He is admitted to the South Carolina and Massachusetts bars to practice law.

Sabrina de Branco

Sabrina de Branco is a senior executive in sustainability, known for creating and implementing governance in the areas of social responsibility, corporate relations and social and digital communications. With more than 15 years of leadership in multinational companies on wide-ranging projects, such as mining and reforestation for pulp and paper production, she has solid knowledge in stakeholder management, preparation of strategies aligned with the ESG principles, and creation of shared value, brand and reputation management. She was the first woman elected to chair a union of pulp and paper industries in Brazil (Sindpacel – BA). Committed to extended education, Ms. Branco has undergraduate degrees in Radio and TV (Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz) and in Journalism (Faculdade de Tecnologia e Ciências), with MBAs in Project Management (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) and Business Management (Faculdade Santo Agostinho), Masters in Social Development and Management (Universidade Federal da Bahia), and extensions in Environment and Sustainable Development (Fundação Getúlio Vargas), Sustainability (Dom Cabral Foundation), Business Sustainability Management (University of Cambridge), Strategy (Nanyang Technological University – Singapore), among others, as well as Professional Coach and internationally certified by the PMDPro in Development Project Management.

John Williams
President & CEO of Domtar
John D. Williams has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Domtar since January 2009. Mr. Williams has more than 40 years of experience in both consumer products and packaging. He began his career in consumer product sales in 1976, gaining insight into key market dynamics in the U.K. and the U.S. Since joining Domtar in 2009, Mr. Williams has led Domtar’s transformation from a strictly paper manufacturing enterprise to a significant player in the absorbent hygiene market. At the same time, he cut costs and invested in new and innovative technologies to help grow their pulp production to the third largest producer in the world.
Mr. Williams is Lead Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Owens Corning (NYSE: OC); a Director of Form Technologies, Inc., a privately-held leading global group of precision component manufacturers based in Charlotte, North Carolina; the Chair of the advisory board of the Stern Center for Sustainable Business at New York University. He is also a board member for nonprofit Camp Blue Skies Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities, and he is Chairman of Trustees for the Palisades Episcopal School, a private school in Mecklenburg county.

Remi G. Lalonde
President & CEO of Resolute Forest Products
Remi G. Lalonde has been president and Chief Executive Officer of Resolute Forest Products since March 1, 2021. Mr. Lalonde has been with Resolute since 2009, rising through a series of successive roles in corporate, manufacturing and senior leadership. He previously served as the company’s senior vice president and chief financial officer from November 2018 to March 1, 2021. Before then he was general manager for over two years at Resolute’s Thunder Bay pulp, paper and power complex. He initially joined the company in 2009 as senior counsel, securities, and took on the additional role of vice president for investor relations in 2011. In 2014, Mr. Lalonde was appointed treasurer and vice president for investor relations.
He began his legal career at the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York City as an associate in the financial institutions and corporate & finance groups, where he worked for over six years.
Mr. Lalonde graduated with a bachelor of laws from the University of Ottawa in 2003 and a bachelor of applied sciences in civil engineering from the University of Ottawa in 1999.
Mr. Lalonde has led a number of important mandates for the company and has represented Resolute in major negotiations with governments, private counterparties, unions and stakeholders. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Ontario.

Stewart Gibson
Chief Operating Officer, Paper Excellence Canada
Stew joined the company in January 2019 and brings a wealth of experience as a senior manager and executive within the pulp and paper industry. He has 30 years of industry experience, first starting at Catalyst Paper in 1990. He held roles as Vice President of Technology and Sourcing and as General Manager at the Powell River mill. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a master’s degree in Pulp & Paper Engineering, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.

Jean-François Guillot
Chief Operating Officer, Fibre Excellence
Jean-François joined Paper Excellence in March 2018 and has been an engineer in the pulp and paper industry since 1988. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of positions, ranging from Process Engineer to Vice President of Operations. He has also worked in various jurisdictions in Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. Over the last 10 years, Jean-François has been involved in multiple turnaround reorganizations of operations. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Wood Engineering from Université Laval. Jean-François is fluent in both French and English.
