Tiskwat

Located on the northern Sunshine Coast of southwestern British Columbia, Catalyst tiskwat Mill was the first newsprint mill in western Canada. Commissioned in 1912, at one point one in every 25 newspapers worldwide was printed on paper manufactured at Catalyst tiskwat Mill. Strong relationships with local First Nations continue today, partnering on mill fibre supply. The Paper Excellence tiskwat mill is a leading producer of high quality specialty papers. Our specialty papers are used in catalogues, magazines, newsletters, inserts, flyers, high-volume weekend newspaper magazines and food packaging papers.

The Powell River landfill amendment application was approved in August of 2008. Since that time, several minor amendments have been approved. The new permit is available here. The 2008 amended permit was appealed with the appeal hearings being held in April and September of 2009. The Environmental Appeal Board issued a decision in June of 2010 and that is available here. The new permit requires that we provide a number of reports on our website. The annual report is located at catalystpaper.com/page/landfill-and-air-monitoring.
